It all started with the residents - the semi-nomadic members of the Mogya tribe in Ranthambore whose primary source of livelihood has traditionally been the hunting of tigers. Dhonk, named after the local trees, was born out of the need to conserve the natural habitat and the tigers while at the same time provide an alternate means of livelihood to the tribal villagers as anti-poaching rangers and conservationists. Dhonk provides numerous services and training that directly support the women and girls of the community and employment of the men as an antipoaching task force.

NWC was founded in 2007 as a self-help group and quickly grew to become a center that offers free education for women in the Nyamirambo neighbourhood. Today women can join the center for classes in English, literacy, computer, sewing and handicrafts. NWC also organises workshops on Gender Equality, Women's rights and gender-based violence. In 2014 a community library was opened offering books in Kinyarwanda, French and English.
In an effort to develop income-generating activities for the center but also for the women of the community, NWC developed a community-based tourism project that offers guided cultural walks in Nyamirambo and Umutima, a new line of household and children's products.

This organization was set up in 2009 by Evelyn Habasa and her husband Denis Rubalema. The organization exists to support local women struggling at home with issues associated with HIV, domestic violence, and poverty. More than 300 women from 11 villages now use or work at the Ride 4 a Woman community center, where they can learn to pedal sew, weave baskets, dance, sing, and drum; learning new skills, making a living, and making it possible for their children to gain an education.
The organization also offers microfinance, helping women to help themselves and support their families.
